RxTx Mobile - Android Permissions

When downloading the RxTx Mobile app through Google Play on an Android device, you are presented with a pop up that says:

RxTx Mobile needs access to:

  • Identity
  • Photos/Media/Files
  • Wi-Fi connection information
  • Device ID and call information

The reasons that we need this information are found below the image.

We use this to show a “device name” on the “device info” page

We use this to store the downloaded data, as it’s too big to fit in the apps internal storage

Wi-Fi connection information

We use this to know when you are connected to Wi-Fi as some users select to only update the app when connected to Wi-Fi

Device ID and Call Information

We use this to determine whether we are running on a phone, in order to present a “call” button on some alerts.
